The tournament will be conducted under FIFA rules and include:
- A club championship
for ages 10,12,14,16 years and open men. Teams (minimum of 5
maximum of 10) can be made up of FFA registered players
from any club.
- A national interstate
championships conducted by the Australian Beach Soccer
Association
- An invitational international series competition conducted by the Australian
Beach Soccer Association
The Gold Coast Beach Soccer Championships will be directed by
the cofounder and continuing director of the Gold Coast Champions
Cup-on of the largest international youth football tournaments in
the southern hemisphere staged annually on the Gold Coast.
Volunteers with over 10 years experience administering the Gold
Coast Championships will support the administration of the
tournament.
While beach soccer is a well established and fast growing sport
overseas it is a relatively new sport in Australia. As such there
will be a free games skill clinic on Coolangatta beach the day
before the commencement of the tournament.
All proceeds from the staging of the Gold Coast Beach Soccer
Champions will go to the Asteros Association-a not for profit
association formed to raise funds for early intervention wilderness
adventure based personal development programs for ‘at risk’ youth.
